Road Trauma
Presenter: Emergency Services representatives
This lecture will involve oral presentation, use of whiteboard, powerpoint slides and the showing of a video either by – Road Accident Awareness Program (Qld Fire and Rescue) or Paramedics or Care Flight
Rescue Associations:
- Statistics on Volunteer Rescue Association call outs. (Last year they had 126 call outs which equals 5278 hours)
- Trafficking Crowd Control (If you are not able to render assistance get well out of the way)
- The volunteers resuce association numbers are “000” or mobile “112”
- The rescue association will help search for lost persons down wells etc. and helps ambulance services if a person is too heavy to lift
- Practical assessments
Other Emergency Services:
- History of ambulance service
- Ringing “000” and what to expect
- Audience participation on their experience in dialing “000”
- Dispel rumours, myths about using the ambulance
- Reinforce the dangers associated with the four factors mainly concerning road accidents:
- Speed
- Alcohol
- Drugs
- Fatigue
- Effectiveness of advertising campaigns in the media
- Relaying personal experiences of accidents attended and statistics
- Video on Traffic Offenders Program and accidents
- Thoughts on the video by persons watching
